General Description

At R.E. Mason we implement Automation projects with scope from multiple disciplines – procurement, electrical and panel design, automation software configuration, computer & network infrastructure design & installation.  Our Project Managers are responsible for coordinating with our engineering leads across disciplines to track execution status, manage procurement, and track project financials. 
 
Program Managers oversee a suite of related projects with an emphasis on customer success and account strategy to drive long term positive business outcomes.  Programs may be defined as a customer designated capital program, or an internally designated suite of related projects across one customer or industry.  Program Managers work with Project Managers to ensure profitability, resolve problems, and drive schedules across their programs.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage large, high risk, high complexity, and/or high-profile programs as assigned.
    • Develop relationships with key customer and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives and success factors are understood and met. 
    • Collaborate with sales to align long-term account goals with project execution.
    • Facilitate the definition of project scope, stakeholders, goals, risks and deliverables.
    • Collaborate with the customer and execution team to define program-level execution strategies.  Strategies may include:
      • Early engagement of Subject Matter Experts for new technologies
      • Developing plans to ensure resource continuity across a program
      • Defining rolling or phased execution plans across projects to ensure knowledge transfer and efficiency across projects
      • Ensuring key deliverables and standards (such as panel fabrication and drawings) are defined and followed across a program.
    • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans (communication, resource, budgets, quality, risk, procurement, and change management), revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and/or requirements.
    • Assemble and coordinate project resources ensuring proper skill set assignments to project tasks
    • Monitor execution status & financial reports maintained by project managers supporting your program(s)
    • Proactively communicate program successes, challenges, and potential change orders to customers and internal account stakeholders
    • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, contractors, and suppliers influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Work collaboratively with and be supported by Project Managers as follows:
    • Ensure that Project Managers have what they need to execute back-office functions and maintain project data for all projects you lead.
    • Help clear roadblocks and solve problems.
  • Provide oversight and mentoring to Project Managers for the projects they manage directly.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies

  • Four (4) year bachelor’s degree. 
  • 8+ Years of relevant experience executing and managing projects in automation, OEM skid fabrication / integration, IT, software development, software configuration, commercial HVAC or similar relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Visio and other MS Office Tools
  • Great written and verbal communications skills with fluency in English.
  • Ability to wear required PPE without limitations.
  • Organized and able to develop/utilize templates and/or standards.
  • U.S. Citizen with valid driver’s license.

Preferred Experience/Competencies

  • PMP certification
  • Certification in one or more forms of Agile
  • Experience working in any of the following industries:  Life Sciences, Chemical, Energy, Pulp and Paper, Metals and Mining, Oil and Gas, Food and Beverage.
  • Experience with GMP/Validated projects.
  • Experience with Operations Management software (MES)
