Project Manager - Charlotte, NC

General Description

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, completion, and profitability of process valves, instrumentation, control and automation projects, while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.  This position requires the candidate to exercise multiple disciplines during project execution including project planning, metrics tracking, cost analysis, project reporting, managing contract deliverables, managing risks, and direct interaction with customers.  Candidate must be organized, creative, independent, self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail oriented, and flexible in scheduling and prioritization.  Candidate must be able to multi-task, and focus with composure, in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.  REM’s territory spans the Carolinas and Virginia, with regional offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Richmond.  Periodic travel across the three states is required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, execution and control of multiple projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, stakeholders, goals, risks and deliverables.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and/or requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales to align project execution with overall account goals to build, develop, and grow business relationships.
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff ensuring proper skill set assignments to project tasks; recruitment of and negotiation for project personnel.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members, contractors, and suppliers influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Continually monitor and report progress on milestones and deliverables to all stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project budget, including overseeing customer invoicing.
  • Develop and maintain Change Management, communication, quality, risk, and procurement plans.
  • Maintain complete project documentation per company standards.
  • Develop and publish post-project assessment regarding deliverables, quality, and financial results.
  • Develop and publish project closure reports, and perform project closeout activities.

Required Education/Experience/Competencies

  • U.S. Citizen with valid driver’s license.
  • Four (4) year bachelor’s degree. 
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of direct, relevant experience in a service provider organization in a project management capacity; or military equivalent.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Proven experience in in team-oriented leadership role.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning.
  • Proven experience in risk management.
  • Proven experience in change management.
  • Proficient in project management software (MS Project 2003 or above required).
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Share Point.
  • Great written and verbal communications skills with fluency in English.
  • Proven ability to work in an environment requiring a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple activities & prioritize appropriately to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to interact with customers & peers relative to project execution activities.
  • Ability to wear required PPE without limitations.
  • Organized and able to develop/utilize templates and/or standards.
