Software Sales for Life Sciences Manufacturing

General Description

The “Solutions Consultant” will be directly responsibility for sales of DeltaV Process Automation System, Syncade Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Bio-G Real-Time Modeling System (RTMS), Fluxa Process & Knowledge Management (PKM), and Plantweb Optics Analytics/Data Lakes solutions.  The individual shall develop and maintain business relationships with decision makers and purchasing influencers relative to the control system and Level 3/4 data management solutions in specific assigned Life Sciences accounts. The Life Sciences Solutions Consultant will focus on the emerging cell and gene therapy market. They must understand existing and potential customers’ business, identify customers’ needs, recognize business drivers and desired outcomes, be aware of the customers’ organizational dynamics, and develop pursuit strategies in order to profitably grow a portfolio of products & services designed to help increase the productivity and profitability in their facilities. The Solutions Consultant must be technically sound and able to articulate our Life Sciences solution capabilities and what differentiates our solutions from our competitors.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all Emerson Products and Services included in the assigned Process and Digital Transformation Business Units with emphasis on Level 3/4 data management solutions including but not limited to: DeltaV Process Automation System, Syncade Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Bio-G Real-Time Modeling System (RTMS), Fluxa Process & Knowledge Management (PKM), and Plantweb Optics Analytics/Data Lakes.
  • Develop targeted sales plans, account strategies and forecasts to meet company, team and individual targets and goals.
  • Travel to meet customers, present deliverables and benefits, close business.
  • Utilizing a solid understanding of the Life Sciences customers’ needs and of the growth potential, he/she will plan, organize, coordinate and execute strategies in increase participation in the cell and gene therapy market.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders at each site to help them achieve their business objectives.
  • Lead and write proposals with support of internal resources.
  • Analyze performance against goals, interpret sales results and profitability, and identify Life Sciences market and customer trends.
  • Document value delivered to our customers in order to support business strategies (Quantified Business Results).
  • Identify and maintain accurate records of the customers’ organizations and the politics that influence decision-making.
  • Provide regular status reports to Sales and Service Management regarding progress on account objectives and other metrics established for assigned accounts.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Travel to customer sites in North Carolina (Primary); expect less than 20% travel to South Carolina and Virginia.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of the Life Sciences industry and related unit operations utilized for production.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills. 
  • Works well in both Team and Individual settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with and influence senior level executives – Professionalism – Rapport/trust building skills.
  • Strong prospecting/opportunity development in sales and service approach.
  • Strategic thinker with solid technical skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills; specifically engaged listening and acknowledging skills, as well as questioning and discovery skills.

Required Education & Experience

  • BS degree required in a discipline that supports a technical knowledge of the business.
  • Detailed knowledge of the sales process as applied at a management level with a history of success in using this process.
  • 3+ Years of direct technical experience within industrial manufacturing or related markets.
