General Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will perform various accounting duties including general ledger maintenance, expense management, accounts payable and budget reporting duties. Strong knowledge of computer applications including MS Word, Excel and ERP is required. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must be able to suggest and implement process improvements and maintain confidentiality of all business systems and transactions.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely entry of business transactions.
  • Assist with the month end accounting close processes.
  • Document relevant policies / procedures for the accounting processes. Keep updated.
  • Review annual budget performance.
  • Perform account analysis and monitor for unusual items.
  • Provide support for financial statement preparation.
  • Assist in the gathering of information and preparation of schedules for the year-end audit and other audits, tax filings, or examinations, as necessary.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and/or analysis requested by management or other departments.
  • Train/coach department personnel regarding policies and processes.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Position will require learning, mastering and supporting all aspects of the day to day accounting processes
  • Utilize the efficiencies of technology and our ERP business system software
  • Requires direct, face-to-face, electronic and telephone communication with individuals in other departments, vendors, team members and customers as may be required.

Required Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Accounts Payable, Expense Management and Budget Analysis.
  • General accounting knowledge including knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to work at a high level under pressure.
  • Must work with the utmost level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • 2+ years’ ERP system experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience in Accounts Payable and Budget maintenance and reporting.
  • Software – proficiency with Microsoft office (especially Excel), databases and communication with programmers, accounting software, reporting systems, imaging systems. Must feel comfortable with introduction to new systems.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and calmly with all staff, vendors, customers and all levels of associates in the organization.
  • Practical, results-oriented contributor with superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly regarded for integrity, ethics, flexibility, teamwork, professional excellence and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, be hands-on, and be enthused about working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be comfortable interacting and working with the senior leadership team.
  • Have the initiative to get results.

Required Education & Experience

  • BS, Accounting
  • CPA or desire to get certification is a plus

Preferred Experience/Competencies

  • 5+ years of accounting related work experience
